Tell a Friend about MOMS Study

Welcome to the MOMS Study

The goal of the Maternal Observations and Memories of Stillbirth (MOMS) study is to collect data that will help researchers, medical professionals, and women better understand all kinds of stillbirths and how to prevent them. This data also will provide those in the helping and counseling professions with insights on offering compassionate support to stillbirth families.   Many researchers believe that most of the four million stillbirths women experience worldwide every year do not have to happen.

Women throughout the world who have experienced pregnancy and delivered a baby, stillborn or live, are invited to share their story with the researchers by clicking on the Questionnaire button on this page and completing an interactive questionnaire. All the stories will be used to identify possible risk factors for stillbirth.

MOMS is sponsored by the MISS Foundation (MISS) www.missfoundation.org and facilitated by the International Stillbirth Alliance (ISA) www.stillbirthalliance.org . These groups, and others around the world, are working to inform mothers about how their participation may lead to new answers in this area

September 15, 2005: MOMStudy is completed!

With more than 50,000 visitors to the MOMStudy site, and 5,000 participants in the study, our goals for this study are fulfilled. The first results are now under analyses, and abstracts of results will be provided in newsletters and on this site in the time to come. If you have not alredy done so, you can sign up for newsletters or future research below.

We would like to offer our most sincere thanks the thousands of mothers who have offered us their time, and shared their memories of a childbirth with us.

We do understand the cost and magnitude of your efforts, and we are certain that we can turn your information into better care and prevention of stillbirths.

Sincerely,
J. Frederik Frøen, MD, PhD, Principal Investigator
